VARANASI, Sept. 21 -- Deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Vaibhav Krishna on Saturday directed the cops to ensure action against cow, liquor and arms smugglers under the Gangster Act, and confiscate their property. DIG Krishna held a review meeting with senior officials at Chandauli. He directed that under Mission Shakti, strict action should be taken against those involved in vandalism and crimes against women. He directed that every complainant/victim coming to the police station should be heard with sensitivity, and action should be taken promptly. It was informed that Chandauli police registered 23 cases under the Gangster Act between January and September. These cases included eight of cow slaughters, seven related to liquor smuggling, and six related to drug smuggling.
