Encroachments removed from six acres of land in Rudrapur
Rudrapur, Jan. 9 -- The Rudrapur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Thursday removed encroachments and took possession of around six acres of land in the town of Udham Singh Nagar district, officials said.
RMC mayor Vikas Sharma said the land, located in the Shailja Farm area on Gangapur Road, had been encroached upon under the guise of a cowshed. "One person had usurped the land in the name of a cowshed. He was repeatedly asked to remove the encroachment and vacate the land, and notices were also served, but he refused to comply. Following this, an RMC team removed the encroachment and took possession of the land," Sharma said.
The mayor said the civic body has been carrying out an intensive anti-encroachment drive across the city. "A few days ago, RMC reclaimed encroached land in Rudrapur worth around Rs.175 crore. The land freed from this encroachment is estimated to be worth nearly Rs.50 crore. The municipal corporation is removing encroachments without any discrimination," Sharma said.
He added that earlier, the RMC had also removed encroachments and taken possession of land belonging to an Idgah and a temple as part of the ongoing drive....
