Jodhpur, Aug. 23 -- The high court revived a public interest litigation concerning illegal encroachments on roads and footpaths and directed state authorities to identify and remove obstructions on roads that link Jaipur to the state and national highway network. A division bench of justices Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Sanjeet Purohit ordered that the original PIL be revived and listed the matter for hearing on October 7, 2025, alongside the underlying writ petition. In the meantime, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and the additional chief secretary, urban development & housing department, have been directed to undertake an exercise to remove encroachments on roads in Jaipur that connect to State and National Highways. The court said: "No sympathy can be extended to such encroachers and if it is found that any legal authority or police officials had allowed the encroachments, appropriate action against them may also be taken."...
