Haridwar, Dec. 11 -- The district and Mela administrations have identified large-scale encroachments on the restricted land where Ardh Kumbh fair is set to be organised in Haridwar in 2027. Senior officials have directed the irrigation departments of both Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh-under whose jurisdiction the land falls-to immediately clear all encroachments. "Kumbh Mela land is reserved, and no encroachment, whether permanent or temporary, will be permitted. Necessary instructions have been issued to the irrigation departments of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh to ensure timely removal of all unauthorised occupation," said district magistrate (DM) Mayur Dixit. "With millions arriving in Haridwar annually, it is imperative that the Kumbh Mela land remains free of encroachments," the DM added....
