Encroachment hindering green corridor stretch work
LUCKNOW, Dec. 14 -- Encroachment along the newly widened New Hyderabad Road leading towards Hanuman Setu in the state capital has emerged as a major hurdle for the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) in completing the green corridor project on time. The road, which has recently been broadened, is still under construction, but the roadside 'shops' along the carriageway has begun to obstruct the ongoing work.
Officials said these multiple 'shops' close to a temple located just before Hanuman Setu are affecting the project and are also creating bottlenecks on a stretch meant to improve traffic flow and connectivity.
Commuters are already facing difficulties on the stretch as pebbles and loose soil are causing inconvenience and raising safety concerns for commuters, especially during peak hours.
An LDA official aware of the development said removing encroachment would significantly speed up the remaining work and help the authority meet its project timeline.
The official said the administration has repeatedly asked the shopkeepers to vacate the area, but despite several warnings, the 'shops' remain in place, causing problems for the private agency to execute the work....
