PRAYAGRAJ, May 27 -- A 65-year-old woman was found strangled to death inside her house in Barai village under Sarai Akil police station area of Kaushambi on Sunday evening. Villagers noticed a foul smell coming from the house and went inside, where they discovered her body. They then called the police. Police said the body was decomposed, suggesting she was killed two to three days earlier. A case of murder has been filed against unknown persons based on a complaint by the woman's brother. The victim, Sanwari Devi, originally from Ganja village in Prayagraj, was married to Krishna Kumar Singh of Barai village. The couple had no children, and Krishna Kumar left her after about three years of marriage. Since then, she lived alone at her in-laws' ancestral home and earned a living through farming. On Sunday evening, after neighbours noticed a bad smell, they found her lying dead on a cot.
