Prayagraj, Dec. 12 -- A 70-year-old woman, Sumati, who had gone missing from Lajpat Nagar in Delhi, was reunited with her family after two and a half years on Wednesday. She had been living as an unclaimed resident at the Aadhaarshila Old Age Home in Naini during this period. On Wednesday, her grandson Deepak and his wife, Dr Pooja, arrived from Delhi to take her home. The reunion was emotional for all three, and Sumati left for Delhi by train the same evening. Deepak, who works for a private company in Delhi, said that his grandmother had been travelling from Delhi to Jharkhand in June, 2023. She accidentally reached Prayagraj instead. She was found in a helpless state at Prayagraj Junction, and the police took her to the old age home. Due to mental distress, she could not give her address. Deepak explained that six months ago, during a relative's wedding in Naini, the family discussed her disappearance and shared her photo on a WhatsApp group. Relatives then sent them links to the Aadhaarshila Old Age Home's website and social media pages. The family watched several videos of unclaimed women living at the home.
