Elderly man beaten to death over minor dispute in Prayagraj
Prayagraj, Aug. 7 -- A 60-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death in daylight on Wednesday following a small dispute in Leuda Majra hamlet of Chitauri village, under Ghurpur police station limits in the trans-Yamuna area.
The victim, Kallu Patel, was sitting outside his shop, when he was attacked by Maujilal Yadav, a nearby brick kiln owner, and his associates. Police said the incident was linked to an earlier argument between the two men.
Locals reported that Maujilal, believed to be drunk, came to the shop with several men and began to punch and kick Kallu. He sustained internal injuries and died on the spot.
Soon after, senior police officers, including ACP Vivek Kumar Yadav (Kaundhiara), ACP Kunjlata (Bara), and SHO Dinesh Singh, arrived at the scene. Tensions rose as the victim's family refused to hand over the body for post-mortem examination, demanding immediate arrests.
After hours of talks with police and community leaders, the family finally agreed, and the body was sent for autopsy. Police later searched the house of the main accused, just 100 metres from the crime scene, but it was locked. Only an elderly woman was found outside, and the accused were missing, said SHO....
