Eight players qualify for final round
LUCKNOW, June 12 -- Silver medalist at the 2019 Asian tenpin bowling championship Dhruv Sharda and Kapil Singhal from Delhi delivered stellar performances in the round-robin league stage of the 1st North Zone Tenpin Bowling Ranking Tournament, securing top positions in their respective groups and qualifying for the final round.
On Wednesday, top 16 players were divided into two groups-Group A and Group B-with eight players in each group. Round-robin matches were conducted among them.
Following the league stage, the top four players from each group advanced to the grand final, making a total of eight finalists.
In Group A, Dhruv Sharda from Delhi secured the top spot with a total score of 3737, including 3617 pinfalls. Multiple-time national champion Mohan Lal, also from Delhi, recorded 3396 pinfalls and a total score of 3495, finishing second and securing a place in the knockouts.
Sumit Vaish from Uttar Pradesh secured 3430 pinfalls and a total score of 3490, placing third, while Utkarsh Srivastava from Madhya Pradesh achieved 3404 pinfalls with a total score of 3484, securing fourth place and advancing to the final.
In Group B, Kapil Singhal from Delhi topped the group with 3530 pinfalls and a total score of 3650. Sumit Goyal from Haryana followed in second place with 3477 pinfalls and a score of 3577, while Sunil Kumar Sharma from Delhi finished third with 3459 pinfalls and a score of 3519....
