GORAKHPUR, May 4 -- The district police on Saturday arrested eight individuals, including a bus driver and conductor, for assaulting staff members at the Tendua Toll Plaza near the Gorakhpur bypass.The incident occurred when a luxury bus, en route from Lucknow to Bihar, was asked to stop for a routine load check. A heated argument broke out between the toll plaza staff and the bus crew, which soon escalated into a physical altercation. According to Amit Kumar, the toll plaza manager, the driver and conductor of the bus reacted aggressively to the load check, verbally abusing and physically assaulting the toll staff. Several passengers also joined in the attack.Based on a complaint filed by the toll plaza staff, police reviewed CCTV footage from the scene and identified eight individuals involved in the incident. Those arrested include toll staff members Ashutosh Kumar, Anurag Kumar, Neeraj Kumar, and Vikas, as well as bus staff members Sonu Yadav, Dharmendra Kumar, Deepak Kumar, and Nitesh Singh. Meanwhile, the bus driver and conductor also lodged a counter-complaint, alleging that they were being harassed by toll staff under the pretext of checking for overloading.Police have registered complaints from both parties and have taken all eight individuals into custody for further investigation....
