Education must teach us to remain committed to society, nation: Governor
Agra, Oct. 16 -- Governor Anandiben Patel stated that the education should not remain confined as a measure for self-progress but should aim at teaching one to remain committed to society and nation. She asked girl students to remain alert about their own security to make a crime-free society.
The governor was addressing the second convocation of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University of Aligarh on Wednesday. She congratulated students winning medals and considered convocation as an integral part of the academic calendar which not only reminds students about their academic achievements but is an occasion to remember.
Director of IIT Roorkee Prof Kamal Kishore Pant, UP minister of higher education Yogendra Upadhayay and minister of state for higher education Rajni Tiwari were the guests at the convocation of the university, the foundation stone of which was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This was the second convocation of the university organised to remember veteran freedom fighter Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh who donated land for Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh. Vice Chancellor of university, Prof Narendra Bahadur Singh presented annual report of the university.
In her address, governor Anandiben Patel spoke at length on Operation Sindoor, need for awareness amongst women about vaccine for cervical cancer. The governor, also the chancellor of universities in the state, reminded MPs and MLAs about their association with the university in their home district and asked them to contribute towards infrastructure of the universities.
Governor uploaded 44,139 graduation level degrees and 7,361 postgraduation degrees on digilocker. The Governor Medal was awarded to Neha, the top scorer in university while 17 gold medals at graduation level and 30 medals at postgraduation level were awarded.
Minister Rajni Tiwari applauded a book penned by the governor while minister Yogendra Upadhayay stressed on swadeshi and advocated vocal for local concept. Chief guest Prof Kamal Kishore Pant was honoured with 'D Lit' degree. In his address, Prof Pant stressed on utility of waste management and linking small industries with science and technology....
