ED summons for Yuvraj, Uthappa over online betting probe
New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summons to former India cricketers Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh, and Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, asking them to appear at its headquarters in Delhi on Sept 22, 23 and 24, in connection with its money laundering probe against alleged illegal online betting platforms, officials said.
Uthappa, Yuvraj and Sood, officials said, have been asked to record their statement under the prevention of money laundering act (PMLA) with regard to their association with online betting platform 1XBet, any endorsement fee they earned for promoting it and the mode of communication between them. They will have to appear before the investigating team .
ED has questioned two former India players Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan, former Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty and Bengali actor Ankush Hazra in the case. Actress Urvashi Rautela, who was the ambassador for 1xBet, was summoned for Tuesday but she didn't appear....
