Bengaluru, Sept. 3 -- The Dharmasthala case, which began with allegations of mass burials along Netravathi river in the temple town in Karnataka, has now drawn the attention of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as the agency has initiated a probe into allegations of foreign funding used to fuel communal conspiracies, officials said on Tuesday. ED has initiated a probe under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) after complaints linked to the case, officials in the state government and ED said, adding that the financial activities of two Bengaluru-based NGOs are being examined. "Letters seeking five years of bank account records, along with PAN details, have already been sent to the State Bank of India and other banks," an officer aware of the development said, requesting anonymity. The NGOs that received foreign funding will be under the scanner, another official said, adding, "The ED has asked for relevant documents from police. The focus is on NGOs Odanadi and Samvada for alleged foreign funding rule violations." Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara said, "Let the ED investigate funding if they want; we cannot object to it. They will probe financial and related aspects from their own angle."...
