PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 25 -- In a first-of-its-kind step, an eco-friendly golf cart service will start inside the Magh Mela area from December 26. The service is being launched to help elderly and women pilgrims move easily within the mela premises. Officials said the service will begin ahead of Magh Mela-2026. At first, 20 battery-operated golf carts will be used. This number may be increased to 50 depending on crowd movement and demand during the fair. The 44-day Magh Mela will begin on January 3. Magh Mela Officer Rishi Raj said many devotees face difficulty walking long distances in the large mela area. The golf carts are meant to provide relief, especially to senior citizens and women. The service will be operated by a Nagpur-based company of the KCC Group. A golf cart station and charging facility have been set up at the Parade Ground. Both 16-seater and 11-seater battery-powered carts have already arrived. The golf carts will run on all major routes inside the mela. As they are battery-operated, they will not cause pollution. The fare for different routes will be decided soon....
