ECI delists 121 politicalparties inactive since 2019
LUCKNOW, Sept. 20 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday delisted 121 political parties that had not contested any assembly or Lok Sabha elections for six consecutive years since 2019.
In a post on X, Uttar Pradesh chief electoral officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa said that the 121 political parties removed from the list of registered parties would no longer be entitled to any benefits available to political parties under the relevant provisions of the Income Tax Act 1961, Section 29B and Section 29C of the Representation of the People Act 1951, and under the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order 1968.
Any party aggrieved by the ECI order may appeal to the Commission within 30 days from the date of the order.
