DARBHANGA, Sept. 2 -- A dhaba (roadside eatery) owner from Bihar's Darbhanga, who lost his motorcycle during Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Voter Adhikar Yatra last week, has now received a brand-new Pulsar 220 motorcycle directly from Gandhi. Anil Kumar, the dhaba owner, said his bike went missing on August 27 after Gandhi's security personnel took it for a short ride during the rally. The same rally had grabbed attention when Rahul Gandhi was seen riding a Bullet motorcycle with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra riding pillion - visuals that went viral on social media. According to Kumar, his Pulsar 220 bike (registration number BR 07 AL 5605) was taken by security officers from his roadside eatery on NH-27. Rai said the security personnel stopped for tea and then asked to use motorcycles for the rally. While six of the seven bikes, belonging to other owners, were later found abandoned at the end of the stretch, Anil's Pulsar remained missing. The dhaba owner claimed that the security men paid some rent to other bike owners, which he had refused considering the purpose of using his bike. "I was even directed by security personnel over the phone to visit Sitamarhi, Dhaka, and Motihari to meet them and discuss the issue. I spent a lot of money chasing leads, but the bike was never traced," Anil said, adding that he has call recordings of his conversations with Gandhi's security staff. As the matter drew media attention, Rahul Gandhi reportedly intervened and asked his team to resolve it. On Sunday, Anil received a call from Gandhi's personal staff, inviting him to Patna the next day. While Anil went to a motorcycle showroom in the city, his son-in-law Shubham Saurabh attended Gandhi's and mahagathbandhan allies' concluding programme of the Voter Adhikar Yatra at Dak Bungalow Chowk. There, moments before the event, security personnel called Shubham on stage. Shortly after, Rahul Gandhi arrived and personally handed him the keys to a new Pulsar 220 of the same make. Asked whether he received a bike with the same features as his old one, Shubham said his earlier Pulsar had a blue-and-black colour combination, while the new bike is red-and-black. Recalling the moment, Shubham said: "Rahul Gandhi asked me why I preferred a Pulsar. When I told him my old bike was also a Pulsar, he asked, 'Then why don't you take a Bullet instead? I'll cancel this one.' But I politely said I'd stick with the Pulsar." Meanwhile, police said a formal complaint regarding the missing bike is yet to be filed. Raushan Kumar, SHO of Mabbi police station, confirmed on Monday that while the complainant had shared details orally, no formal FIR has been registered so far. "Once we receive a formal application, appropriate action will be taken," the officer said. Anil Kumar, meanwhile, said he will lodge an FIR at the police station in Darbhanga after his return from Patna on Tuesday....
