LUCKNOW, July 6 -- Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Saturday called upon farmers, mango growers and entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the subsidies and facilities provided under Uttar Pradesh's food processing industry policy, highlighting the sector's vast employment potential. Addressing a gathering on the second day of the three-day Mango Festival at Awadh Shilp Gram, Maurya said the double engine government was committed to farmers' welfare and promoting mango exports. "The government is offering a 35% subsidy for setting up mango processing units," he said. Describing the mango festival as a confluence of culture, values and heritage, Maurya said the event showcased the richness of over 800 mango varieties and reflected the prosperity of UP's farmers. He also urged people to support PM Modi's "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign through widespread tree plantation.
