PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 31 -- Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday said that opposition parties, including the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), would not be able to even see legislature if they did not get fake votes. He made these remarks while addressing a seminar titled "Atal: A Personality and an Ideology" at the District Panchayat Auditorium, organized by the BJP City unit. Thanking the Election Commission for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, Maurya said the BJP neither casts nor supports fake votes, but opposition parties depend on them for electoral success. He added that the era of fake voting would soon end and representatives would be elected on the basis of genuine voters, who would then have to work with dedication for the nation and society. During the program, Maurya and Cabinet minister Sanjay Nishad honoured Prayagraj's international Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Khushboo Nishad for winning a gold medal at an international MMA championship held in Lebanon. Maurya said her achievement symbolizes the courage, discipline and hard work of Indian daughters and called her success an inspiration for the younger generation.Earlier in the day, Maurya inspected the construction of the six-lane bridge being built over the Ganga river from Malak Harhar to Beli crossing. He expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work and directed the executing agency to speed up construction. Officials informed him that the project would be completed by May 2026....
