Dwitiya Kedar portals shut for winter season
Mussoorie, Nov. 19 -- The portals of the temple known as Second Kedar, the Madmaheshwar Temple, in Rudraprayag district were closed for the winter season at 8am on Tuesday on the auspicious occasion of Margashirsha Krishna Chaturdashi and Swati Nakshatra.
The portal-closing ceremony began at 7am and was attended by over 350 devotees, along with officials of the Badarinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), the Forest Department and the district administration, officials said.
Harish Gaur, BKTC media in charge, said that following the closure, the festive idol palanquin procession (Chalvigraha Utsav Doli) of Lord Madmaheshwar began its journey to its winter seat, making its first halt at Gondar. The Doli will proceed via Rakeshwari Temple and Ransi on November 19, and Giriya on November 20, before reaching its winter abode, Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, on Friday where a grand welcome has been arranged.
BKTC president Hemant Dwivedi extended his wishes to devotees and said the winter yatra will begin after the idol reaches Omkareshwar Temple. Madmaheshwar Temple Fair will begin on November 20....
