LUCKNOW, May 7 -- Students of Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University will soon be able to carry out practical experiments online through virtual labs in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. The facility has been introduced after IIT Roorkee approved the university as a Virtual Labs Nodal Centre until December 31 this year. Under this initiative, students will use IIT Roorkee's software to perform experiments remotely. This will help them improve their understanding of technical subjects without the need for physical labs. According to the official communication, the university will have to arrange the required infrastructure, including computers and internet facilities. It will also be mandatory to organise at least one workshop every semester. No extra fee will be charged to students for using the virtual labs. The nodal coordinator will be required to attend meetings at IIT Roorkee and submit regular reports on usage and feedback. The university will also need to follow all prescribed standards and cybersecurity rules. Vice-chancellor Acharya Sanjay Singh said the move will provide quality practical education through modern technology.
