LUCKNOW, March 11 -- In another incident of filial violence fueled by addiction, a 35-year-old man allegedly attacked his 60-year-old father with a sharp weapon in Lucknow's Sarojini Nagar area on Wednesday after the father refused to give him money for drugs. The critically injured father has been rushed to the hospital."The incident took place around 3.20pm in Behsa village. Sarojini Nagar police, who were alerted via the control room, found the victim Santlal Rawat with severe injuries. He was first taken to Lokbandhu Hospital and subsequently referred to KGMU Trauma Center due to his critical condition," said ACP Krishna Nagar Rajneesh Verma.
"Initial police information indicates that the accused, Neeraj Rawat, is a drug addict and assaulted his father with a baaka (a sharp weapon) when the victim refused his demand for money," police said in a statement. Police added that the accused fled the scene and remains at large. The victim's daughters have reached the hospital, and police teams have been formed to search for the accused.
This attack is the latest in the series of violent confrontations between sons and their fathers in Lucknow in recent weeks, often stemming from financial disputes and substance abuse.
In a highly talked about case on February 20, a 21-year-old youth Akshat Singh allegedly shot his 49-year-old father dead after an argument and then dismembered the body and kept it in a blue drum and some parts were disposed of to conceal the crime. The motive was linked to a dispute over his prospective career and other issues.htc...
