Drive clears encroachments in key city zones
LUCKNOW, Aug. 21 -- To ease traffic and reclaim public spaces, joint teams of local police and the Municipal Corporation carried out anti-encroachment drives in Naka and Hazratganj zones on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Places where city police ran the drive with heavy force were Bazarkhala area, Gudamba, Hazratganj, Naka, Sushant Golf city, PGI, Krishna Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Banthra, Bijnor among others.
On Tuesday, operations in the Naka zone covered Bans Mandi to Naka Chauraha, Aryanagar, and Vijaynagar. Illegal structures were removed, encroachers warned, and hazardous items like gas cylinders seized.
On Wednesday, a similar campaign was held in Hazratganj, stretching from Balmiki Tiraha to Lalbagh Square, Hariom Temple, Mayfair Tiraha via Car Bazar, Atal Chowk, and Capital Tiraha. Temporary encroachments were dismantled and shopkeepers cautioned.
Senior officials, including ACPs, traffic inspectors, police teams, civic staff, and Vyapar Mandal representatives, joined the drives. Residents welcomed the action, calling it a step toward cleaner roads and smoother traffic....
