GORAKHPUR, June 15 -- Additional sessions judge Avneesh Kumar Rai on Friday evening pronounced the verdict, sentencing dreaded criminal Chandan Singh to life imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs 50,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional 162 days of imprisonment. Chandan Singh, a notorious criminal listed among the top 10 offenders in the Chilwatal Police Station area, was convicted in connection with a broad daylight murder that was committed on Diwali day in Doharia Bazar. Chandan Singh, also known as Devkinandan and a resident of Kushahara village, shot and killed Santosh Singh in plain view on November 13, 2012.
