LUCKNOW, May 25 -- A residential house in Ismailganj Ward-2 has reportedly developed visible cracks and structural damage, allegedly due to the ongoing drainage line work being carried out by a private contractor on behalf of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) Zone 7. Residents blamed the private agency for operating without adequate safety precautions, claiming that heavy earthmovers were deployed dangerously close to homes. "They began digging right next to our homes. As our ramps got broken by the agency, there was a sudden crack which started coming on our walls," said one of the affected residents on Saturday. The construction is part of a 1,800-metre-long drainage project aimed at addressing waterlogging issues in the area. However, the project has now come under public scrutiny after damage to the property surfaced. Despite the damage, senior LMC officials, including Zone 7 executive engineer Ashok Yadav and chief engineer Mahesh Verma, were reportedly unaware of the situation. Yadav later acknowledged that a heavy earth mover may have damaged the ramp, indirectly causing the wall cracks. "I had no prior information about this issue until it was brought to my notice by the media," he said. LMC officials stated that so far, only one house has reported visible damage....
