Lakhimpur Kheri, April 17 -- District magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal has seized the financial and administrative rights of Bankeyganj village head Vijay Laxmi Devi following her alleged role in the April 14 violence, said a press communique from the district information office. The action came after an inquiry found her lax in managing gram panchayat land, leading to a dispute over encroachment that triggered clashes between two groups during the installation of Dr B.R. The BDO has been directed to propose a three-member committee to manage panchayat affairs, while the ADM will submit a detailed probe report within a fortnight. Police have arrested 32 accused so far, with two FIRs naming 82 individuals and around 200 unidentified persons. HTC...
