Aligarh/Lucknow, Dec. 28 -- A three-day state-level Divya Sports Festival 2025 for differently-abled athletes was on Saturday inaugurated at Ahilyabai Holkar Stadium, Aligarh, by minister of state (independent charge) for backward classes welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities Narendra Kashyap. Kashyap encouraged the athletes and said sports are the most effective means of building confidence and self-respect among the differently-abled persons. He said the sports festival was not just a competition, but a celebration of the talent, determination, and self-reliance of Divyangs. He said before 2017, the disability pension was only Rs 300 per month, which the Yogi government has increased to Rs 1000 per month. Kashyap said Indian athletes with disabilities have brought glory to the country on international platforms like the Paralympics. The outstanding performance of Indian athletes at the Paris Paralympics 2024 has proved that people with disabilities are second to none.
