Div commissioner reviews library revamp in Agra
Agra, June 26 -- Divisional commissioner Shailendra Kumar on Wednesday reviewed renovation work at the Queen Empress Mary Public Library in Sadar Bazar and John's Public Library in Paliwal Park, both being upgraded under the Smart City project.
Accompanied by Nagar Ayukt Ankit Khandelwal, Kumar interacted with readers, sought feedback, and emphasised the need for digitalisation, internet access, and increased membership at the libraries.
At the Sadar-based Queen Empress Mary Library, Kumar directed officials to auction waste material cleared during the renovation before the formal reopening. He noted the growing popularity of the library among youth preparing for competitive exams.
Khandelwal said around 700 donors have contributed over 6,700 books. The library now has CCTV, LED TVs, improved furniture, a canteen, and a cafeteria. The commissioner also visited John's Public Library, inspecting facilities and viewing statues of Queen Victoria preserved on its premises....
