Dismissed constable produced in CJM court
Lucknow, Dec. 10 -- Alok Pratap Singh, a key accused in the Rs 100 crore codeine cough syrup racket, was brought to the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) here on Monday. However, cops were not able to present Singh before the CJM due to stiff resistance from lawyers.
Singh, 46, who was dismissed as a constable in UP Police, remained in the police van, which was parked in the court campus, where he signed the 'remand register' The remand register is a formal record book maintained in criminal courts to document details of accused persons, who are held in custody (remanded) while awaiting trial or further investigation.
The CJM fixed December 22 as next date to present Singh before court.
Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested Singh on December 2 when he was exploring options to flee the country, officials said.....
