Agra, Oct. 5 -- Day three of the search operation in Utangan river in the Kheragarh area of Agra remained a disappointing one with nobody traced all through the day when reports last came on Saturday evening. Officials engaged are now planning on a changed strategy by getting water level lowered by stopping inflow at spot and opening the blockage ahead. About a dozen youth, aged between 16-25 years, from village Kusiarpur of Mauza Dungarwala, within the limits of Kheragarh police station of Agra rural, had gone missing after they entered the water with the idol of Durga for immersion on the culminating day of Navratra on Thursday, when tragedy struck. Three were rescued on Thursday but only one could survive and two died. The death toll rose to five with three more dead traced on Friday as a second team of NDRF and para military forces were pressed into action. However, searches on Saturday yielded no results. Agra DM Arvind Malappa Bangari and additional commissioner of police (ACP) Rambadan Singh monitored the search operation on Saturday morning. Unit 411 Para Field Company of 50 Para of Army, teams of NDRF, SDRF, Flood Company of the PAC besides expert divers remained engaged on Saturday. "We are not to abandon the search operation but will change strategy," said Raj Kumar Chahar, the MP from Fatehpur Sikri (Agra Rural). Cultural and tourism minister Jaiveer Singh reached the spot on Friday. He enquired into the efforts made. The restless villagers lost their cool on Friday afternoon as search was slow in results and only 6 out of 11 missing were traced in 24 hours. htc...
