Digitisation of forms touches 56% mark in state, ECI lauds progress
Lucknow, Nov. 29 -- As many as 8.66 crore (56%) enumeration forms were digitised in Uttar Pradesh till Friday under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, according to Election Commission of India data.
ECI commended the progress made in digitisation work in the state over the past two days and directed further acceleration to ensure timely completion of the exercise.
The Commission was reviewing the progress of the Special Intensive Revision exercise with the Uttar Pradesh chief electoral officer, all divisional commissioners and all district electoral officers.
Booth level officers (BLOs) have distributed 15.39 crore (99.72%) forms among the voters till Friday. The state has 15.44 crore voters, according to ECI data. The distribution of enumeration forms commenced on November 4.
Chief electoral officer Navdeep Rinwa said the personnel engaged in digitising and collecting the enumeration forms during the SIR are working diligently. The district election officers have been told that as the deadline is approaching, they should collect the forms from the voters soon, he said
At booths with relatively slow progress, additional skilled personnel should be deployed, he reiterated.
BLOs should go door to door to get the enumeration forms filled by the voters and collect them back.
While the names of eligible voters should be included in the voter list, BLOs should work with caution to ensure that the names of the dead, shifted, untraced and duplicate voters are not included, he added.
All the district election officers should get Form-6 and Form-8 printed in sufficient quantity. There should be no shortage of the forms during the claims and objections exercise, he said....
