Dehradun, Aug. 22 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday met Union youth affairs and sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya in Delhi and sought the Centre's support for strengthening sports infrastructure and training facilities in Uttarakhand. During the meeting, Dhami presented a series of proposals aimed at comprehensive sports development in the state, ranging from the creation of high-level infrastructure to the introduction of world-class training opportunities for athletes. The CM expressed gratitude for the Centre's cooperation in the successful conduct of the 38th National Games held recently in Uttarakhand. Calling it a milestone event, Dhami said: "The Khel Mahakumbh had given the hill state a new identity and reinforced its vision of emerging as a 'Khel Bhoomi' (land of sports)." Dhami urged the Union minister to consider and approve several key projects, including establishment of a high-level sports facility at Dinapani in Almora district and operationalisation of the long-pending ice skating rink at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun. "These projects will not only give young athletes access to world-class facilities but also help Uttarakhand harness its natural advantage for adventure and winter sports," Dhami said.
