Dehradun, Sept. 2 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday inaugurated Uttarakhand's first Saathi Kendra at Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Government Post Graduate College at Khatima. The centre has been established in collaboration with IIT Kanpur to provide quality coaching and mentoring to students preparing for competitive examinations. Speaking at the event, Dhami said the initiative reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to reform the education system and equip students with both career-oriented skills and academic excellence. "The social and economic development of any nation depends on the quality of its education. Through the NEP, students are now being supported not only in employment-oriented studies but also in competitive examinations," he said. The chief minister highlighted that professors from premier institutes like IITs and IISc are conducting online classes to prepare students for key exams, including engineering, medical, banking, railways and law Dhami said that over 15 lakh students nationwide have benefited from Project Saathi since its launch in 2023. In Uttarakhand, nearly 29,000 students have joined the initiative, with more than 500 clearing competitive examinations last year alone, he said.
