Dehradun, Nov. 11 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday announced that a detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared for a master plan to develop Gairsain and surrounding areas on the lines of a smart city. Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth Rs.142.25 crore in Gairsain, the summer capital of Uttarakhand, as part of the state's silver jubilee celebrations. The two-day celebration was organised in Bhararisain (where the legislative assembly building is located) to commemorate 25 years of the state's formation. During the event held in the assembly premises, the chief minister paid floral tribute to the martyrs of the Uttarakhand statehood movement and honored the activists by presenting them with shawls. The chief minister inaugurated 27 development projects worth Rs.43.63 crore and laid the foundation stones for 33 projects worth Rs.98.62 crore in the district. He also inspected stalls set up by various departments and felicitated individuals who have made commendable contributions in the fields of sports, education, agriculture, and social development. During the ceremony, contingents of ITBP, IRB, Civil Police, Home Guards, Women Constables, Civil Police/Fire Service, and NCC performed a parade to the tunes of the 46th Battalion PAC band. Extending greetings to the people on the silver jubilee of Uttarakhand's formation, the chief minister paid tribute to the brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifices in the defence of the the nation and to the martyrs and statehood activists who laid down their lives for the creation of the state. He also announced the inclusion of Chaukhutia, Jyotirmath, and Ghansali under the UDAN air connectivity scheme. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's participation in the main silver jubilee event had brought immense pride and prestige to Uttarakhand. "During the event, the Prime Minister gifted the state development projects worth over Rs.8,200 crore and set new goals for its progress," the chief minister said. Dhami said the state government is working relentlessly to make Uttarakhand the spiritual capital of the world. Restoration and beautification of ancient temples in Kedarkhand and Manaskhand are being undertaken rapidly to boost pilgrimage tourism. Referring to Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said, "Atal ji not only gave us a new state but also gave it direction and strength through a special industrial package." The chief minister added that several initiatives are underway for the development of Gairsain. "We have adopted Sarkot village and are working with residents and departments to develop it as a model village," he said. He added that the state government is implementing new policies and schemes to ensure holistic growth, due to which Uttarakhand is now emerging as a leading state in various national indices. He said the state's growth rate has accelerated, farmers' incomes are rising, and unemployment has decreased by 4.4 percent in the state. "Uttarakhand ranks first in the country in the Sustainable Development Index and has received the Most Film-Friendly State Award," Dhami said. "With strong central support, the state is making rapid progress in infrastructure, education, health, and improving air and rail connectivity." He added that initiatives such as the Mandir Mala Mission, One District One Fair Scheme, and the promotion of adventure tourism are helping strengthen the state's economy. "Strict land laws have been implemented to curb the land mafia, and anti-cheating laws have ensured transparency in recruitment examinations," he said.
