DGP reviews Mission Shakti centres, notes fall in crimes against women
LUCKNOW, Dec. 20 -- Director general of police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna on Friday virtually reviewed the functioning of Mission Shakti centres across the state and took feedback from senior officers on their impact and challenges.
The DGP said the centres, strengthened in September this year in all police stations, have delivered encouraging results. A comparison of crime data before and after their establishment showed a sharp decline in crimes against women, including a nearly 34% fall in rape cases, 17% drop in kidnappings, about 13% reduction in dowry deaths and around 9.5% decline in domestic violence cases. .
Officers said public confidence has improved with many cases being resolved through counselling and dialogue. Innovative measures such as Mission Shakti volunteers, complaint boxes and assistance with government schemes were also highlighted.HTC...
