Development key aim of double-engine govt: CM
Jaipur, Nov. 26 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday said that the benefits of the double-engine government's development agenda were reaching all 80 million people of Rajasthan.
Addressing a series of inauguration and foundation-laying ceremonies in Bali constituency in Pali district, Sharma highlighted major progress in infrastructure, water, power, agriculture and employment, urging citizens to join hands in building a "Viksit Rajasthan-Viksit Bharat."
"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double-engine government is ensuring that the benefits of development schemes reach all 80 million (8 crore) people of Rajasthan," said Sharma
Widespread rainfall this year led to flourishing crops and overflowing dams and ponds across the state. he said, adding that with the inauguration of a new school in the region, girls will now have access to education closer to home.
The chief minister said the state government was committed to improving the lives of farmers, youth, women, and economically weaker families. After taking office, the government prepared a roadmap based on Rajasthan's core needs, which prioritised major initiatives to address water scarcity-such as the Ram Jal Setu Link Project, Yamuna Water Agreement, and works under the Indira Gandhi Canal Project, Gang Canal, Mahi Dam, and Dewas Project.
Parallelly, the government was working to strengthen power supply systems, said Sharma, adding that Rajasthan continues to lead the country in solar energy. The government was also working on a target to provide daytime electricity to farmers by 2027, and operations have already begun in 22 districts, he added.
Highlighting the government's focus on accountability, Sharma said that under the previous administration, students' dreams were crushed as 17 out of 19 recruitment exam papers were leaked. In contrast, not a single paper leak has taken place during the current government's tenure. He announced that 400,000 government jobs and 600,000 opportunities in the private sector will be created within five years. So far, 92,000 appointments have already been made, and the upcoming Rozgar Utsav will provide further opportunities to the youth, he added.
The CM said the current government's work in the past two years exceeded the achievements of the previous government's full five-year term.
Listing the government's achievements, he said that under his tenure, 1.25 more farm ponds were built across the state, rate of fencing of farmland was also higher by 2.5 times.
Multi-purpose veterinary centres saw a four-fold upgrade, said Sharma. Similarly, significant work was done in installing CCTV systems in public places, allocating land for renewable energy projects, issuing LOAs under Kusum-A and Kusum-C, distributing scooters to girl students, and constructing buildings for government colleges, he added.
During the event, the chief minister inaugurated development projects worth over Rs.110 crore in Bali. These included a district hospital building in Bali being built at a cost of Rs.63.60 crore, a residential school for children of nomadic livestock-rearing families costing Rs.18.95 crore, and strengthening and widening works of the 20.50-km Nadol-Sadri road built at a cost of Rs.28 crore.
Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi said that while the chief minister spoke about farm ponds and boundary fencing, he avoided mentioning how many schools his government has shut down.
He said the previous Congress government had opened more than 300 colleges, medical colleges, and 3,737 Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools to provide free education, and upgraded numerous PHCs and CHCs. In contrast, the present government has put major projects like IPD towers on the back burner, pensioners are not receiving payments on time, and roads across the state remain in disrepair.
Chaturvedi added that the the previous Congress government had recruited 350,000 people and provided 250,000 with jobs outside the government sector, while the current government was taking undue credit for work already completed....
