Dev projects, portal to book community centres launched
LUCKNOW, April 3 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) inaugurated 456 development projects worth Rs 29.62 crore in Zone-1, on Thursday, and launched an online booking portal for community centres and Kalyan Mandaps, aiming to streamline access and improve transparency. The moves are aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure and expanding digital citizen services. Zone 1 includes localities like Hazratganj, Lalbagh, Burlington and nearby areas.
Mayor Sushma Kharkwal inaugurated the projects at Jhandi Park and dedicated them to the residents. She said the civic body is simultaneously focusing on physical infrastructure and digital governance to ensure efficient and accessible services in a rapidly expanding city.
According to officials, the projects include construction and widening of roads, strengthening of drainage systems and beautification of parks across Zone-1. These works are expected to ease traffic congestion, reduce waterlogging and improve sanitation conditions, while also enhancing green cover in residential areas.
The civic body also launched an online booking system for community centres and Kalyan Mandaps. Residents can now check availability and book facilities from home, eliminating the need for physical visits to municipal offices.
Officials said the portal will curb middlemen, reduce delays and ensure a transparent, time-bound process. The move is also expected to boost adoption of e-governance services in the city.
The municipal corporation has also fixed booking charges for various community centres. Officials said the rationalised rates aim to bring uniformity, prevent discrepancies and simplify the booking process for residents....
