Lucknow, Oct. 5 -- Asking officials to take the state's infrastructure and urban development works to a new level, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said senior officials should not remain confined to files, but should go around to review progress of projects. The CM issued the instruction during a high-level review meeting of the Awas Vikas (housing development) department on Saturday. Stating that development authorities should not limit themselves to construction but innovate to strengthen their financial positions, he instructed them to issue their own bonds to not only increase income but also strengthen public trust in their efficiency and transparency. The time has come for Uttar Pradesh's development authorities to turn their plans into brands and set examples for other states, he said. Regarding the proposed 28-kilometre Green Corridor project in Lucknow, he said linking various ongoing projects in the state capital would give a major boost to economic growth. He directed officials to ensure that funds for the Green Corridor and other infrastructure initiatives are arranged through investment loans, enabling their timely completion. While preparing master plans, development authorities should make the selection process scientific and transparent so that plans can be realistically implemented on ground, the chief minister said, according to a government statement. The chief minister said that 38 projects worth Rs 1,833 crore have been proposed for the overall development of Meerut, Kanpur, and Mathura-Vrindavan - 11 in Meerut, 13 in Kanpur, and 14 in Mathura-Vrindavan. He further directed that no building map should be approved unless it includes a proper rainwater harvesting system. He said that considering future needs and the seriousness of the water crisis, this arrangement is mandatory and must be strictly enforced.
