LUCKNOW, Oct. 14 -- The Southwest Monsoon withdrew from the whole state on Monday (October 13), though with a delay of about a week from the normal date of withdrawal, the weatherman said. "In view of the prevailing dry weather conditions, the South-West monsoon withdrew from the eastern part of the state and with that it withdrew from the rest of the state," said Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at Lucknow Met office. The rainfall in the state during the season (June 1 to September 30) was normal. Western Uttar Pradesh received 752.5 mm of rainfall, which is 12% more than the long-term average of 672 mm, while Eastern Uttar Pradesh received 666 mm of rainfall, which is 17% less than the long-term average of 799.2 mm. Consequently, the overall regional monsoon rainfall was 701.6 mm, which is 6% less than the long-term average of 746.2 mm, which falls in the normal category, the weatherman said. During this period, three districts of the state received much less than normal rainfall, 27 districts received less than normal rainfall, 13 districts received more than normal rainfall and 2 districts received much more than normal rainfall. Monsoon rainfall was normal in 30 districts, including Lucknow. There will be no significant change in temperature due to the prevailing dry Westerly/North Westerly winds. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain normal or marginally below normal at most places in the state for the next few days....
