Denied marriage, young couple consumes poison in Lucknow
LUCKNOW, Oct. 14 -- A 21-year-old cab driver and a 15-year-old girl died after allegedly consuming poison inside a car near Ring Road in Gosaiganj on Sunday. The couple, reportedly in a romantic relationship, had planned to marry, Lucknow Police said.
The girl, a resident of Alambagh, and the boy from Jankipuram shared their location with family members after taking the poison. "Relatives rushed them to the Trauma Centre, Lucknow, but both succumbed despite medical efforts," police said.
Authorities added that police were not informed before the couple received treatment. "The Trauma Centre alerted us after their deaths. Panchayatnama proceedings were conducted by police and the bodies were sent for postmortem examination," a statement said. Police said the man left home to drive his cab and, around 8 pm, sent his brother the location, saying both had ingested poison. The minor girl left home Sunday morning, claiming she was going to a birthday party. Investigations revealed the man, originally from Bihar, lived in Lucknow with his family. While his family supported the marriage, the girl's family refused due to her minor age. Unable to proceed with their plans, the couple reportedly took the extreme step. Neither family has accused anyone of the matter....
