Lucknow, July 19 -- Residents and medical professionals are demanding the urgent construction of a cloverleaf junction or flyover on Rae Bareli Road to ensure uninterrupted access to the premier healthcare facility. Located in southern Lucknow, the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) serves thousands of patients daily, many in critical condition. But the daily traffic snarls near its entrance have become a growing obstacle, often delaying ambulances and emergency vehicles at peak hours. "Every minute matters in a medical emergency," said a hospital staff member, requesting anonymity. "The traffic bottleneck near PGI can be the difference between life and death. A cloverleaf or flyover would create a signal-free corridor for ambulances and emergency vehicles." Dr PK Gupta, a social worker and resident of Saraswatipuram, said the area's rapid urban expansion has far outpaced its road infrastructure. "Rae Bareli Road is now a key arterial route connecting several high-density colonies in southern Lucknow. A flyover would help separate local traffic from hospital-bound vehicles and reduce gridlock significantly," he said. RM Agarwal, a resident of Himalayan Enclave and General Secretary of the Vrindavan Yojana Residents Welfare Association, said "When we see projects like the Shaheed Path cloverleaf being greenlit for commercial areas near Cinepolis, and a huge flyover for VVIPs to the airport, it's frustrating that a life-saving institution like SGPGIMS continues to be ignored," he said....
