Delhi's Madhav Gupta makes it to semis in national para b'minton
LUCKNOW, Sept. 9 -- Delhi's Madhav Gupta along with S Sanjiv Raj of Tamil Nadu and Prajwal Ambadagatti stormed into the semi-finals of the boys singles under-17 SL 4 category of Junior and Youth National Para Badminton Championship here on Monday.
Gupta defeated top seeded Uttarakhand's Ujjwal Bisht 21-18, 18-21, 21-9, whereas Sanjiv Raj defeated Rajasthan's Harshil Nayyar 21-18, 21-9. Karnataka's Ambadagatti also notched up a straight games win over Delhi's Yash Kumar 21-12, 21-18.
In the girls singles SU5 category quarterfinal, Kerala's Sai Mangala Hari Iyer defeated Haryana's Komal 21-4, 21-11.
In the boys singles SL4 category quarterfinals, MP's Rohan Patel got a walkover from Kerala's Jyothishkumar PS, Uttarakhand's Ujjwal Bisht beat Sahil Bidla of Chandigarh 21-11, 21-14.
Prateek Tyagi won a golden double in the 1st Lucknow District Pickleball Championship here on Monday. Tyagi won the men's singles title in the 35+ category, defeating Luv Khatri 11-8,11-2. Later pairing with Yash Jindal, he defeated the duo of Abbas and Aadarsh 11-8, 11-8 to win the doubles title. Ritwik defeated Aviral 11-5, 11-8 to win the men's open singles title.
In the mixed doubles final, the duo of Sana Surangana Asthana and Akshaj Bhagat defeated the pair of Kanu Priya Khulbe and Lakshay Pahwa 11-5, 11-8.
Hosts Lucknow off to a fine start in the 29th Sub-Junior Uttar Pradesh State Boys Basketball Championship, defeating Kaushambi 29-7, at the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Multipurpose Indoor Hall here on Monday.
