Delhi cop, brother sentenced to life
Meerut, May 16 -- A Delhi Police constable and his brother, were sentenced to life for the brutal killings of cousins, Bhupendra Kumar and Jagdish alias Bhura, in village Kailawan of Bulandshahr, in October 2022, said additional district government counsel Yogesh Sharma.
The verdict was delivered by the court of ADJ Dhirendra Kumar III, who also imposed a fine of Rs.1.43 lakh on each convict. The convicts' mother, accused of aiding the crime, was acquitted for lack of evidence, while a minor co-accused had his case handled separately. The crime came to light on October 2, 2022, when Naresh Prajapati, a sanitation worker in Panchayati Raj department and father of Bhupendra, filed a missing person report at Salempur police station. On October 4, Salempur police arrested Deepanshu and a minor from Kailawan village, who later implicated Tushar (the Delhi Police constable) and their mother. During interrogation, the accused confessed to personal vendetta as motive and alleged Bhupendra had an illicit relationship with their mother. On October 1, they invited Bhupendra for dinner, and Jagdish accompanied him. The cousins were served drinks laced with sleeping pills, rendering them unconscious. The accused then fatally attacked the victims, striking their heads repeatedly. To dispose of the bodies, the accused, with their mother's alleged assistance, transported them to Bhopatpur in Sambhal. The Sambhal police recovered Bhupendra's headless body on October 2. The court's ruling hinged on the accused's confessions, statement of 27 witnesses though lack of evidence e led to their mother's acquittal, ADGC said. htc...
