Lucknow, Sept. 15 -- An IndiGo flight to Delhi, carrying 151 passengers, including Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav, aborted takeoff moments before leaving the ground at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow on Saturday morning. After the incident involving flight 6E-2111, all passengers were safely deboarded and shifted to the terminal. Arrangements were made to send them to Delhi on another flight. There were no reported injuries. IndiGo, in an intimation to the passengers, confirmed the aborted takeoff and cited technical reasons, stating, "The safety of our passengers is our highest priority. The aircraft was stopped as a precaution after a potential issue was detected during the takeoff roll." The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken note of the incident and sought a detailed report. An IndiGo official, on condition of anonymity, said the aircraft aborted takeoff in time, adding that all the passengers were evacuated and sent to Delhi on another flight. The Airbus A320neo aircraft had already begun accelerating down the runway at around 11:10 am when the pilot initiated an emergency brake, halting the plane just before takeoff. The pilot detected a technical issue involving insufficient engine thrust, which could have compromised the safety of the flight, according to people familiar with the matter at the airport. Preliminary information suggests that the issue was related to the aircraft not receiving the required thrust to lift off - a critical phase in any flight. The pilot, adhering to safety protocols, informed Air Traffic Control (ATC) and brought the aircraft back to Bay No 07 via the taxiway. Passengers were visibly shaken by the sudden stop. One passenger described the moment as "terrifying", adding, "The plane had already picked up speed when we heard a strange sound. Within seconds, the aircraft came to a sudden halt. It felt like God saved us." According to officials of Lucknow airport, "While passengers may have endured a brief panic, the crew's swift and professional response ensured that everyone remained safe." The official said that even as the investigations will continue, the focus now turns to determining the exact cause behind the thrust issue and ensuring such occurrences are prevented in the future. According to aviation experts, an "aborted takeoff" is a standard emergency protocol where the pilot halts the aircraft during its acceleration phase due to an unexpected technical snag or warning signal from the cockpit. In this case, the timely action likely prevented a potential mishap....
