DECKS CLEARED FOR 2ND METRO ROUTE
India, Dec. 31 -- The Union cabinet approved the long-awaited East-West Corridor (Phase 1B) of the Lucknow Metro in August, giving a major boost to the city's public transport network. A part of the 11.2-km corridor connecting Charbagh with Vasant Kunj will link heritage areas in Old City to emerging residential hubs.
The Rs 5,801-crore project is expected to be completed within five years, with Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) likely to float tenders for its construction soon. The route will include seven underground and five elevated stations. It will pass through key localities such as Aminabad, Chowk, Thakurganj and Balaganj. Once completed, the city's Metro network will expand to 35 km. The city got its first corridor in 2017 that connected Munshi Pulia with the Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport....
