December deadline for directly linking rail, metro stations
LUCKNOW, Nov. 19 -- A skywalk directly linking Badshah Nagar's railway and metro stations is now under construction, a move set to end the hassle of navigating between the two busy transport hubs. Foundation work is underway near platform no 1, with the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) targeting a December next year deadline, railway officials said on Tuesday.
The project, executed by the North Eastern Railway (NER) on behalf of RLDA, had been in planning for years and is now moving forward after receiving administrative approval and budget clearance.
This will be the city's second integrated skywalk, following the elevated link between Lucknow Junction and Durgapuri Metro Station.
The initiative is part of the broader upgrade for Badshah Nagar Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. A detailed proposal was submitted to the Railway Board, which subsequently approved the skywalk and its funding.
A railway officer said the completed structure will improve passenger movement, reduce congestion at station entry points, and increase overall commuter convenience....
