MEERUT, Aug. 28 -- A handloom businessman, 35, his wife, 28, and their 4-month-old son were found dead in their upscale residence in Shahjahanpur district on Wednesday in a suspected suicide pact. The family, living in Durga Enclave Colony, left behind suicide notes citing unbearable financial distress and mounting debts, police said. The couple first administered rat poison to their four-month-old son before hanging themselves from ceiling fans in separate rooms on the upper floor of their home. The grim discovery was made by relatives who grew concerned after noticing unusual silence. Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi confirmed that the investigation points to the parents poisoning their child with rat poison before ending their own lives. "Prima facie, it appears that the parents first poisoned their son before ending their lives," Dwivedi stated One note, sent via WhatsApp to the wife's mother, expressed remorse and a plea for peace. Another note from the businessman requested that their assets be sold to clear outstanding debts. Initial investigations suggest the couple was under immense pressure due to recent financial troubles. While no evidence of lender harassment has yet been found, police have seized mobile phones for further analysis and are probing the financial angles of the case....
