Death penalty for two in Hathras minor sisters' murder case
AGRA, May 29 -- A special SC/ST court in Hathras has sentenced two men-Vikas and Lalu Pal alias Laalu Pal-to death for the brutal murder of two minor sisters in January.
The judgment, delivered within four months, was announced on Wednesday by Judge Ram Pratap Singh, who also imposed a fine of Rs.20,000 each under Section 103(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The court noted that the accused not only murdered two innocent girls but also betrayed the trust of a family that had welcomed them into their home, rejecting the defence's argument about their young age.
Police investigations revealed that the murders were part of a conspiracy hatched by Sone Lal Gautam, a relative of the victims believed to be in Dubai. He allegedly hired the accused to eliminate his uncle's family over a property dispute, paying Rs.20,000 in advance from a promised Rs.2 lakh.
The gruesome attack occurred on January 21, 2025. Vikas, who was staying with the family, had dinner with them before killing the two sisters.
The victims' father, Chotey Lal, a teacher, and his wife were also injured in the assault and hospitalised two days later....
