Dead man named in FIR over land dispute!
MEERUT, July 5 -- In a bizarre incident, a man who died 16 years ago has been named as an accused in a land dispute in Rampur district's Patwai village.
The dispute is about the ownership of trees planted on a plot of farmland. On June 27, Rampal, a resident of Patwai, filed a complaint against five villagers namely Sonu, Suraj, Prashant, Sunny and Mahipal alleging that they falsely claimed ownership of trees on his land.
Rampal also accused the group of demolishing concrete structures on the farm and threatening him with sticks when he protested. The FIR was registered based on his written statement. However, during the probe it was revealed that one of the accused, Suraj, had died 16 years ago.Rampal later admitted that Suraj's name was included by mistake and confirmed it to the police. He also claimed that he had informed the police to have Suraj's name removed from the complaint.
On the same day, a counter-complaint was filed by Sonu, another resident of Patwai and one of the accused in Rampal's complaint. In his FIR, Sonu named Rampal, Nitin, Nitesh, Awadhesh, and five unidentified individuals, alleging that they were cutting down trees on the disputed farmland. When Sonu objected, he claimed that the group tried to attack him, forcing him to flee for his safety.
Sonu also claimed that their FIR was registered before Rampal's and in retaliation the latter filed a case that wrongly included Suraj's name.Patwai police station house officer Sandeep Mishra said, "The case has been registered based on written complaints. An investigation is underway, and if it is found during the probe that any of the accused persons are deceased, their names will be removed from the case."...
