Day temp drops at many places; Orai receives 44mm rainfall
LUCKNOW, Oct. 28 -- As predicted, weather took a U-turn on Monday as parts of the state, as also of the state capital, experienced unseasonal rainfall. This was due to the influence of active weather systems in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
There is a possibility of a sharp fall in temperature of 5 to 8 degrees in the maximum temperature at many places on Monday and Tuesday, the weatherman said.
Thereafter, there will be an increase of 3 to 5 degrees in the next 48 hours and then again a drop of 2 to 3 degrees in the next 24 hours.
However, there is no possibility of any significant change in the minimum temperature for the next 4 to 5 days, said Mohd Danish, a senior scientist at Lucknow Met office.
For instance, Lucknow day temperature dropped from 33.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday to 28 degrees on Monday; it dropped by 5.6 degrees in 24 hours. The minimum temperature was 23.2 degrees which was six degrees above normal.
The forecast for the state capital for Tuesday is overcast sky becoming generally cloudy towards evening/night with possibility of light rain/drizzle.
The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 28 and 22 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Jhansi, day temperature fell to 24, which is 9.5 degrees below normal. Orai recorded the day temperature at 24.4 degrees Celsius.
Orai experienced 44 mm rainfall and Jhansi 40 mm in the last 24 hours.
IMD says that cyclonic storm "Montha," concentrated over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, is expected to move north-northwestward, intensify into a severe cyclonic circulation, and cross the Andhra Pradesh coast on the evening/night of October 28. Its remnants are likely to gradually weaken and affect southern and eastern Uttar Pradesh during October 29 to 31.
The forecast for the state is light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in isolated areas of the state during the next 5-6 days, with heavy rainfall in some districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh on October 30, under the influence of the active weather systems and favorable physiological and geophysical conditions....
