VARANASI, Nov. 16 -- A day after the NDA cruised to a landslide victory in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday likened the relationship between the two states to the "unbreakable and strong" bond between Lord Ram and Sita Mata. He was addressing a 'Janjatiye Gaurav Diwas (Tribal Pride Day)' programme in Sonbhadra's Chopan, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation of 432 developmental projects worth Rs 548 crore, a government statement said. The programme was held to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Birsa Munda. "Uttar Pradesh and Bihar symbolise a shared culture, shared heritage, and shared resolve. Just like the sacred bond between Lord Ram and Janaki Mata (Sita), the relationship between the two states is unbreakable and strong." By coming out to vote in record numbers, the people of Bihar have conveyed their continued trust in the double-engine NDA government for development, good governance, and stability, he said. Policies of national interest and development are receiving strong public support under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Adityanath added. The chief minister also described Sonbhadra as the energy capital of Uttar Pradesh, marking a unique confluence of natural beauty and rich resources. The chief minister expressed his commitment to ensuring security, respect, and self-reliance in the lives of tribal communities. This occasion is not just about remembrance, but about connecting tribal pride with development, he added. He expressed confidence that, inspired by the ideals of Birsa Munda, the tribal community of Sonbhadra and across Uttar Pradesh will continue to play an active role in the unity, security, and prosperity of the nation and become leading partners in the mainstream of development. He said the struggle that Birsa Munda, born 150 years ago in 1875 at the age of 25, launched against British rule, continues to guide the new India. He said the large number of tribal brothers and sisters present at the 'Tribal Pride Day' program here symbolised the aspiration and faith for change. Descendants of freedom fighters were honoured at the event, and land pattas were handed over to tribal families under the Forest Rights Act. The chief minister said out of the 15 tribes found in Uttar Pradesh, 14 reside in Sonbhadra alone, and the lives of over 400,000 tribal brothers and sisters here are a living heritage linked to the history of human origin and civilization. He announced that a 'Tribal Pride Museum', similar to the one built in Imalia Koder of Balrampur district, will also be established in this commissionerate area to showcase the art, folk instruments, lifestyle and other cultural heritage of the tribal society.During Saturday's programme, forest rights leases were handed over to over 1,000 tribal families, and more than 23,000 leases had been approved previously, he said. "This has not only given tribal families ownership of land, but is also breaking a decades-old cycle of fear and oppression," he added. A booklet on Sonbhadra's tourist destinations and a book on Birsa Munda written by the vice chancellor of Maa Vindhyavasini University, Mirzapur, were also released. He also distributed certificates to beneficiaries of various schemes and flagged off 25 scooters for women police personnel under 'Mission Shakti'. Minister of state for social welfare Sanjeev Gond presented the chief minister with the tribal community's signature bow and arrow, the musical instrument "Mandar," and a traditional cap. State BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, minister Ravindra Jaiswal, social welfare minister (independent charge) Asim Arun, along with local public representatives, were present at the event. Major projects dedicated at the event included a bridge on Kolian Ghat of the Son river on Ghorawal-Shilpi-Kodari road, widening and strengthening of Balui-Mitapur road and Urmaura-Rajpur road via Basauli-Bahuar-Raghunathpur-Sindoori....
